Electricity Connections. Simplified.
Eclipse Power Networks were appointed as the IDNO (Independent Distribution Network Operator) for the new Winchester EV Superhub at Three Maids Hill by IntsaVolt. The flagship Winchester Superhub is the UK’s biggest ultra-rapid charging hub for electric vehicles (EVs). The state-of-the art site, strategically positioned just off the A34 near Winchester, comprises 44 ultra-rapid charging stations, each capable of delivering up to 160kW to connected vehicles, as well as an onsite café and a play park.
It’s co-located with an 870-panel solar farm and four megawatt hours (4MWh) of battery storage, making this the largest and most advanced EV charging superhub on the UK road network.
Working with the independent connection provider (ICP), Eclipse oversaw, verified and approved all aspects of the connection infrastructure work.
Eclipse’s flexibility had direct benefits for InstaVolt, allowing it to make cost and space savings through a single substation design that would not have been acceptable to a DNO.
Additionally, Eclipse Power helped streamline project delivery by taking a more flexible approach to land rights – a legal requirement where electricity network equipment is situated on private property.
