Minety is a 150MW battery storage project in Wiltshire and is one of the biggest battery storage developments in Europe.
The site was developed by Penso Power and consists of 3 adjacent 50MW battery storage facilities in total.
The initial 100MW of battery storage has seen investment by one of the world’s largest generation companies, the China Huaneng Group, who are responsible for the construction.
Work started onsite in December 2019, with the first 100MW of the project entering operation at the end of 2020.
Phase 2 – The additional 50MW capacity is to be built on adjacent land and will enter into operation in 2022.
Eclipse Power were a valuable partner to us as the chosen IDNO for the Minety Battery Storage project. During the early stages of the project, Eclipse were able to suggest innovative design solutions for the network connection, driving a significant grid connection cost saving, and enhancing project economies. Their ‘can do’ attitude, technical network experience and commercial understanding assisted in liaison with both the local DNO and our selected ICP. We look forward to continuing to work with Eclipse on new opportunities in the future.
