Spencer joined the company in March 2022, bringing over 30 years’ international experience in engineering, commercial and asset management roles in the global utilities sector (electricity, gas, rail). 

A highly experienced utilities director, Spencer’s career has encompassed electrical engineering as well as project, procurement, contracts, asset and investment management for the National Grid, Network Rail, Western Power in Australia, Amey, Vinci Energies, and Enso Energy, among others.

As CEO of Eclipse Power Ltd, Spencer drives the direction of the company’s strategic aims, investment, management and performance. He ensures that Eclipse Power remains focused on agility and simplicity to guide customers through the electricity connection process, argue their case and get connected in a timely, cost-effective way. Spencer is deeply enthusiastic about tackling grid access challenges, pioneering new grid connection methods, and partnering with customers to reach net-zero objectives.

In his spare moments, he enjoys long-distance cycling, motorcycle and campervan touring, and supporting his wife in her aspiration to become a digital nomad working across Europe. A keen cyclist, in 2024 Spencer completed the 259.9 km ‘Hell of the North’ Paris-Roubaix cycle route, raising over £3,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
