National Grid Electricity Transmission
Spencer Thompson, Managing Director at Eclipse Power Networks, met up with the National Grid Electricity Transmission Executive last week to discuss and compare customer insights into grid access congestion.
In a world of energy price volatility, a stimulated market, grid access congestion and planning uncertainty it is important that all parts of the industry come together and collaborate to enable grid connections. Many thanks to Ro Quinn for the invitation.
Making electricity grid connections easier
Connecting to the grid can be complicated, particularly at the higher voltages. We can see the market has the funding, the technology mix is rapidly progressing, and planning will always be a challenge.
There has never been a better time to address some longstanding industry challenges around Queue Management that was designed post privatisation and is probably not fit for purpose in an Energy Transition and Net Zero world.
There has been some positive movement in thinking from NG ESO, and increased flexibility from BEIS and Ofgem – but of course we would welcome so much more.
Driven by solutions…
Looking for new ways to deal with challenges is part of our DNA at Eclipse. We will continue to positively influence and collaborate with the industry to ease the grid access congestion. But when you break it down, customers want great customer service, particularly in an uncertain and complex world – how can we take that pain away?
BRINGING TOGETHER A TEAM THAT ARE EXPERIENCED, FRIENDLY EXPERTS WHO KNOW THIS INDUSTRY INSIDE OUT.
It’s a well-used statement but we must focus on the customer journey.
Our expert knowledge and practical industry experience enable us to ensure customers are supported all the way along from that first interaction to the physical connection and energisation to the Grid. That must be core to our purpose and you couldn’t be in better hands.
