Consort Place – Aspen Tower

Consort Place Development

Eclipse Power Networks have been appointed as the IDNO for the adoption of a mixed-use development at Consort Place. The residential led development is located adjacent to Canary Wharf, London and includes three key buildings:

  • Residential Aspen Tower with High Quality private apartments – 65 Storey
  • Dorsett Hotel – 20 Storey
  • Residential Tower with affordable home – 34 Storey
  • Health and education facilities
  • Various food and beverage outlets positioned around a new public square, including ‘The North Pole’ a 160+ year old listed pub

The Aspen residential tower is set to be 217 metres and 65 storeys high, making it the third tallest residential building in Canary Wharf.

Network Adoption

Eclipse Power Networks provided the client with both HV and LV metered connections across the 5.5MVA 11kV connected mixed use development.

The project includes around 1050 registered MPANs and incorporates an IDNO network extended throughout the building.

The 11kV connected mixed use development has over 600 residential connections, a school, retail outlets, a health centre and food and beverage LV metered connections. These are all fed from Eclipse Power Networks’ 11kV/415V substations. In addition to this, Eclipse Power are also providing the HV metered landlord and Hotel connections via an on-site 11kV switchboard.

Role of the IDNO

All electrical infrastructure will be owned and maintained by Eclipse Power Networks – an OFGEM licensed Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO).

Working together with our Client, Far East Consortium, Utility Consultant, Inventa Partners and Main Contractor, Midgard, as the appointed IDNO, Eclipse Power Networks have developed an innovative electrical design solution which wouldn’t have been an option if the client had chosen the traditional Distribution Network Operator (DNO) route for their grid connection.

The project is due to be completed late 2023 and Eclipse Power will adopt the electrical network and continue to maintain it throughout its lifetime.
