The Eclipse Power Group consists of several Electrical Network businesses and Eclipse Power Networks
Ltd are an OFGEM licenced Electricity Independent Distribution Network Operator working within
the UK energy industry. We design, own, operate and maintain extra high, high and low voltage
electricity distribution network assets, providing power connections to residential, industrial,
renewable and commercial customers across the UK.

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to provide HSE expertise across the organisation, lead the developing
team and embed the culture of HSE into the organisation utilising an HSE professional, ideally from
the utilities industry. The candidate must be able to provide HSE expertise and support covering all
Group regulated and non-regulated activities. They should have strong leadership experience,
innovative problem solving skills and be a good communicator.

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide a single point of contact for advice and expertise on HSE to Senior Leadership
Team and employees across Eclipse businesses.
• Effective implementation of HSE policies and Safety Management systems to deliver HSE
standards.
• Track legislative changes and conduct annual review of HSE policies and procedures.
• Development of appropriate HSE culture across the Eclipse by delivering HSE
guidance/training/briefing material in an innovative, engaging and effective way.
• Monitor HSE KPI performance and provide information to Eclipse Board and business
management teams.
• Work closely with business departments and help develop effective HSE improvement
strategies, plans and objectives to deliver best in class HSE performance.
• Work with business line managers to ensure Legislation and industry standards are
implemented consistently across all Eclipse Businesses.
• Provide HSE expertise to assist senior managers to carry out effective investigations of
incidents and that lessons learnt are embedded in the business.
• Carry out Accident and Incident Investigations and produce concise, accurate reports for
serious incidents.
• Ensure there is an effective risk based HSE assurance plan and audit programme is in
place.
• Act as a HSE mentor to the business and develop HSE capability to meet the current and
long term need of Eclipse businesses.
• Work across the company taking a leadership role to promote and build a more pro-active
HSE culture across all the group businesses

 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

Essential:

• Suitable technical/professional qualification such as Chartered Member of IOSH, Health and
Safety Degree or NEBOSH Diploma, IEMA Environmental Certificate and ISO Internal Auditor.

• Thorough knowledge and practical application of UK HSE legislation.Strong leadership and
inter-personal skills with demonstrable experience in influencing and driving HSE
performance at all organisational levels.

• Strong analytical and facilitation skills to assess and mitigate business risk.

• Problem solving skills to assist the business to determine optimum solutions.

• Experience in leading incident investigations; determining root causes and recommending
preventative measures.

Desirable:

• Qualification – Engineering Degree/HNC

• General – Driving Licence

• Knowledge – Thorough knowledge of safety requirements in Electrical transmission or
distribution industry.

Requirement to travel to sites across GB will be required.
