Above Ground Assets

Eclipse Power Networks also operates and maintains a range of above ground assets, including high voltage air insulated substations.

Any work taking place within the vicinity of our AIS sites, we encourage implementing the following minimum electrical safety clearances, which are used as a basis for the Energy Networks Association (ENA) TS 43-8. These standards have been agreed by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation and form part of the British Standard BS EN 50341-1:2012 Overhead Electrical Lines exceeding AC 1kV.

Impressed Voltage Management

If you are working adjacent to our live HV substations, we advise a safe system of work is established to control and manage associated risks of impressed voltages. Any conducting materials, or temporary positioned objects (i.e. cranes) installed near high-voltage equipment could be raised to an elevated voltage compared to the local earth, regardless of direct contact.
