Eclipse Power Boosts Ousedale School, in Olney with Cutting-Edge 3D Printers

Eclipse Power Networks, a key player in the energy sector, has made a significant contribution to local education by donating state-of-the-art 3D printers to Ousedale School. This initiative aimed to support the school’s aspiring designers, tech enthusiasts, and artists by providing them with the latest technology to foster their creativity and technical skills.

The school is close to Eclipse Powers’ head office in Olney, Buckinghamshire, UK, and the sponsorship is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility activities.

Advancing Education and Sustainability

“We provided two brand new 3D printers to the school as part of our policy of being a good corporate citizen,” said Spencer Thompson, CEO at Eclipse Power. “We also discussed with the school the possibility of pupils coming to see us and gain valuable work experience.”

The new printers replaced two outdated models that had been in use for over a decade. These modern 3D printers have been integrated into the Design & Technology and Art classes, significantly reducing the amount of wood previously used in these projects. Moreover, all materials produced by the new printers are biodegradable, aligning with environmental sustainability goals.

Enhancing Learning Experiences

The donation provided Ousedale School students with the tools to explore new creative avenues and develop practical skills in design and technology. This hands-on experience is invaluable for students, allowing them to bring their ideas to life with precision and innovation.

Supporting the Community

Eclipse Powers’ involvement extended beyond the donation. As part of the sponsorship package, we committed to providing comprehensive training for students and staff on how to use the new 3D printers effectively. This ensured that the school could maximize the benefits of the new technology.

We also offered work experience opportunities, allowing students to visit Eclipse Power Networks and gain insight into real-world applications of their skills. This initiative not only enhanced students’ educational experiences but also strengthened the bond between the company and the local community.
